The start of the process requires us to fully prepare the building by creating a long lasting bond with the coating.
STEP 1. PREPARATION
All dirt, algae, mould, loose paint, soot and damaged substrate have to be removed by wire brushing or light power washing to bond the primer coating with the surface.
Using solvents to clean up patches marked by grease or oil or spraying powerful biocides on areas contaminated with fungal growths and algae can help to identify other problems at this stage.
STEP 2. MASKING
All doors and windows are masked off with heavy duty paper to protect surfaces not required for treatment and to prevent any dust or dirt entering your home.
Bushes, lawns and plants are carefully covered with dustsheets or polythene tarpauling so as not to damage surrounding areas.
STEP 3. RESTORATION Problems can be caused at a later date by blown pebbledash, crumbling render or cracked bricks.
To ensure a perfect bond we grind out all the cracks and fill them with a polymer cement. We take great care to achieving an invisible repair. We remove and replace all areas of loose render or pebbledash. By applying a bagwash or slush coat which is applied with a mixture of cement, sand and latex to provide adhesion for the substrate we can make good slight defects.
STEP 4. PRIMING
Depending on the existing surface circumstances vary. Before the primer coat is applied for good adhesion friable concrete, previously painted surfaces and substrates of uneven porosity require our specially formulated stabilising solution.
Primer is applied smoothly and evenly to the surface by brush, airless spray or roller whenever a primer coat is required. This coat creates a powerful and long lasting bond with the top coating.
STEP 5. APPLICATION The final coat is ready to be applied when the preparation work has been completed and checked.
For both the textured and smooth coatings heavy duty spray equipment is used. This ensures a uniform colour and finish and it can cover many surface defects. It is also 20 times thicker than ordinary paint.
After the application the site will be cleaned and tidied.
